Promise

A promise is a statement by an agent that they will do a stated act later. A promise makes no Obligation, and this is true also when a different agent trusted it. Only a transfer of Ownership binds an agent, and a promise alone is not one. But words, acts, and the conditions of a deal can move ownership, where that is their meaning. There are no necessary words, and there are no words that agents must not use. Only the thing to which the parties consented counts. A bare promise is a promise that moved no ownership, and it gives the other agent no claim. A promise that an agent made with no intention to keep it is Fraud, if it got value, control, or agreement. A promise of harm that an agent uses to make a different agent obey is a Threat.
