Critical Theory

If a law treats people differently based on race, that law is unjust and should be repealed. We agree. But “systemic racism” as used by Critical Theory does not mean identifiable laws. It means unequal outcomes — and it assumes that any inequality between groups must be caused by racism, even when no racist actor or racist law can be identified. This is not analysis. It is an unfalsifiable claim: if the outcome is unequal, racism exists; if you can’t find it, it’s “systemic” and therefore invisible. A theory that cannot be disproven is not science. It is faith.

People do start from different places. This is real and it matters. But the question is: who fixes it, and how? If the answer is “the state redistributes resources based on group identity,” you have created a system that punishes individuals for the circumstances of their birth — which is exactly the injustice you claim to oppose. A poor white child and a rich black child exist. A poor black child and a rich white child also exist. The moment you assign help or blame by group rather than individual circumstance, you guarantee injustice to someone in every group.

Free speech is the only tool the powerless have. Every civil rights movement in history used it: abolition, suffrage, labour rights, gay rights. Every tyrant in history restricted it. When you give the state — or an institution — the power to decide which speech is “harmful,” you give that power to whoever controls the institution. Today that might be your allies. Tomorrow it won’t be. The dictionary definition is precise: expression becomes harm only when it constitutes deception, threat, or fraud — never when it merely causes discomfort, offence, or disagreement.

If it’s invisible, how did you detect it? If only the “woke” can see it, then it’s not an observable feature of reality — it’s a doctrine that requires initiation. The dictionary calls this a mind virus: an idea that spreads by exploiting cognitive shortcuts while resisting correction by logic or evidence. Privilege as “you can’t see it but I can” is unfalsifiable. Advantage as “this specific person had access to resources that person didn’t” is measurable, addressable, and doesn’t require anyone to confess sins they didn’t commit.

If meritocracy is a myth, then no amount of effort, talent, or innovation should predict success. But it does — imperfectly, unfairly in many cases, but observably. Some people do succeed through connections, corruption, or inheritance. Those are failures of justice, not proof that merit doesn’t exist. The answer to a rigged game is to fix the rules, not to abolish the concept of playing well. When you declare merit a myth, you remove the only incentive system that rewards contribution without requiring force.

Violence is the use or threat of force to cause harm against someone’s will. Silence is the absence of speech. Calling silence “violence” redefines harm to include inaction — which means anyone can be guilty at any time for doing nothing. This is the logic of totalitarianism: not acting is a crime, not speaking is complicity, and the only way to prove innocence is constant, visible compliance. The dictionary defines this clearly. If there is no victim, there is no crime. A person who says nothing has harmed no one.

Equality means the same rules for everyone. Equity means different rules for different groups until outcomes match. The first requires only that the law be blind. The second requires someone to decide which groups get what — and to enforce those decisions with power. That someone becomes the most powerful entity in society, distributing advantage and punishment by group identity. This is not justice. It is the explicit reinstatement of legal discrimination, with the arrow reversed. The dictionary defines justice as the victim’s sovereign right to close a moral debt. Justice requires a victim and a perpetrator — not a demographic spreadsheet.
